Virat Kohli: It is learned that Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the new captain of the BCCI ODI team in place of Virat Kohli. The board has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Kohli to step down from the ODI captaincy. With no response, the board itself removed him from office. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has commented on the backlash over the removal of the country’s fourth most successful ODI captain.

Former India captain and current board chairman Sourav Ganguly told ANI, “This decision was taken jointly by the BCCI and the selectors. Although the BCCI asked Virat not to relinquish the T20 captaincy, he did not agree.

Ganguly said, “The selectors are of the opinion that there should not be two different captains in the limited overs format. That is why this decision was made. Now Virat will continue to be the Test captain while Rohit will be the captain for the ODIs and T20s.

What did Ganguly say when Kohli stepped down from the T20 captaincy?
Ganguly said that when Virat Kohli left the captaincy for this short format before the T20 World Cup, he was surprised that Kohli left the T20 captaincy.

Virat said he would have made the decision after the tour of England. It was Kohli’s own decision. There is no pressure on Kohli from the BCCI side. We did not tell him anything about leaving the captaincy. Ganguly said that I was also a player and we did not put any pressure on him because I understood it well.

Ganguly said, “I think it will be difficult to continue as captain for long in all three formats. I myself was the captain of Team India for six years. Everything was fine outside. But, only the captain understands what is going on inside. He said it was a very difficult task.

Ganguly, Jaisha subjected to trolls.
After Rohit Sharma became the captain of the ODI team, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jaisha became a serious troll on social media. Kohli’s removal from the captaincy has angered his fans.
