He has scored a total of 1708 runs this year. He is the third highest run scorer by a batsman in a calendar year. Let’s take a look at Jorot’s best innings in 2021 on his 31st birthday.
228 vs Sri Lanka:
Joe Root started the year with a spectacular double century in the first innings against Sri Lanka in Galle. His innings paved the way for a spectacular victory. England won by seven wickets.
186 vs Sri Lanka:
Sri Lanka batted brilliantly in the first innings and scored 381 runs. When all of the England batsmen collapsed, Root stood strong. His team played a superb 186-run knock to reach a respectable 344. Sri Lanka were all out for 126 in the second innings. England had no real problem chasing the score. With this England once again achieved a marvelous victory.
218 vs India:
In India, it is not so easy to play with India, especially on a stage like Chennai. But this was not a problem for Root. Because he scored 218 in the first innings to give England the lead in the first Test of the series. England won the Test by a huge margin of 227 runs.
180 * vs India:
Root Super Knock did not help England this time. India scored 364 in their first innings with a century by KL Rahul in the 2nd Test at Lord’s in August. England then collapsed to 391. TeamIndia scored 298 in the second innings. Then England were all out for 120 and won the match by 151 runs.
