Shubhman Gill, a young Indian opener, said he did not expect the Kiwis bowlers to create a reverse swing so quickly in the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur. He said he could not guess the ball that was out. Gill scored 52 off 93 balls. Gill was one of three batsmen caught by fast bowler Kyle Jameson in the second session. “Especially when it comes to batting after lunch, the ball starts to reverse swing. I could not have guessed the ball was out, ”Gill told a news conference after the first day’s play.
Gill praised Jamieson’s bowling. Jameson gave New Zealand a break in the eighth over by dismissing Gill’s opening partner Mayank Agarwal. Pujara and Gill then split the 61-run partnership with Jamieson. “I think Jameson bowled well today, especially the first spell he threw with the new ball. He bowled to me and Mayank Agarwal in very good areas. When I came to bat after lunch, the whole ball seemed to be swinging over. ” Said Gill
“I did the opening for my state team, India A. I also batted in the middle order. There will be a bit of tweaking when you play as an opener or when you play as a middle order batter. Shreyas Iyer scored a half century in his debut. Ravindra Jadeja shared an unbeaten 113 for the fifth wicket. Jadeja also reached the 17th Test half century. We hope it continues tomorrow. ” Said Shubhman.
