KL Rahul in particular missed the first ODI due to personal reasons. Even after joining the team last week in the wake of the Kovid-19 cases in the Indian camp, Mayank completed his detention but was not part of the squad for the 1st ODI. Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer along with four support staff and backup player Saini were attacked by Kovid-19 when they reached Ahmedabad. The BCCI said that a total of eight members of the team had entered the isolation and were being monitored by the BCCI medical team.
Team members practiced and stepped on the field after a negative RT-PCR test last week. Ishant Kishan and Shah Rukh Khan have been named in the BCCI selection committee’s squad for the first ODI against the West Indies on Sunday. Ishaan in particular started batting alongside captain Rohit Sharma. India successfully chased down a target of 177 in the 1000th ODI. Captain Rohit, who is recovering from injury, scored 60 off 51 balls. Suryakumar Yadav and debutant Deepak Hooda were instrumental.
