IPL 2022: It has been announced that the mega auction for IPL 2022 will be held in the first week of January. However, there are reports that the mega auction will not be held until the third week of January 2022. It seems that a clarification on this will come soon. The reasons for this are also mentioned in the reports. The mega auction is likely to be postponed due to untimely resolution of issues related to the Ahmedabad franchise.

BCCI officials have been quoted in media reports as saying that the committee’s decision on the issue of Ahmedabad franchise ownership has not been finalized yet. It seems unlikely that auction dates will be finalized until this decision is made. After this, the Lucknow and Ahmedabad teams will also have to buy Chero 3 players before the IPL auction.

Under such circumstances it is not possible to hold an auction within the third or fourth week of January. The BCCI had earlier told IPL franchises that the auction would be held in the first week of January.

Retain list released ..
The old eight teams in the IPL have announced the list of players they will field. With this, all the other players entered the auction. The new teams from Lucknow and Ahmedabad will have to select three players before the current auction. According to reports, Lucknow’s KL Rahul and Rashid Khan are on Ishan Kishan’s while Ahmedabad’s have a chance of bringing in Shreyas Iyer, David Warner and Hardik Pandya.
