“All teams want iconic players who have to pay 10 percent more than the highest paid player on the team. I wanted to buy Dhoni anyway. There was a big clash between Mumbai and Chennai for Dhoni. When Dhoni bids $ 1.5 million, Mumbai will have to pay $ 1.65 million to Sachin. If the team had bought Dhoni at that time, these two players would have had to spend 60 per cent of the money. With this, the Mumbai team fell behind. With this, we got Dhoni, ”he said.
