Shakib Al Hasan: Bangladesh cricket legend Shakib Al Hasan is tired of playing cricket constantly. In this situation he can make a big decision about retirement. Shakib made the remarks after the end of the Test series against Pakistan. Shakib regularly participates in the team in all three formats. He made his international debut for Bangladesh in 2006. And now he suspects he can’t play in all three formats.
Speaking to Dhaka-based TV channel NTV, Shakib said, “I know which format to give priority to. It was time for me to think about Test cricket. I also have to think about whether I will play Test, as well as whether I will participate in the ODIs. I am not saying I will retire from Tests. I may stop playing T20Is after the 2022 T20 World Cup. I can play Test and ODI. However it is almost impossible to play in all three formats. There is no point in playing two Tests in 40-42 days. I will definitely plan with BCB and move on. ‘
However, Shakib announced his retirement before the start of the Test series against Pakistan. He said this in an interview with Gulf News. ‘I feel like I can not play nonstop cricket like before. I will talk to my coach and physio about this. At this point I do not know what format to retire from. But a decision will have to be made in the future. Over the past few years my career has been greatly affected by injury. Yet the passion for the game has not diminished yet. Although the injury is new, I am recovering. ‘
