Bangladesh Cricket Team: The historic Test series in New Zealand is on the verge of success. Bangladesh, led by Mauminul Haque, stunned world Test champions New Zealand in the first Test. Now Bangladesh have a chance to win the historic series for the first time by winning or drawing in the second and final Test. But just hours before the start of the second Test, Bangladesh’s hopes were dashed. Team star wicketkeeper-batsman, senior member Mushfiqur Raheem was injured.
Cricket website CricketBuzz reports that Mushfiqur Rahim will not play in the Test due to a groin injury. According to Bangladesh Cricket Team Management sources, Mushfiqur Rahim failed a pre-match fitness test and his chances of playing in the Test are almost over. Mushfiqur, 34, was part of the squad for the first Test but failed to make a big impact. He scored only 12 runs in the first innings. However, despite scoring only 5 runs in the second innings, the match-winning run came with his bat.
Explaining Mushfiqur’s fitness, a Bangladesh cricket team official said the physio would test him before the match and then make a final decision. The officer said, “He is suffering from an injury in the groin. His chances of playing in the second Test against New Zealand are slim. In the morning our physio will examine them and make a final decision. If he fails to get into the playing XI, he will be replaced by Noorul (Hasan) as the main contender.
Mushfiqur great record ..
Mushfiqur Rahim made his Test debut for Bangladesh in 2005 against England. Since then, he has played 78 Tests for the team, scoring 4873 runs at an average of 37. He has 7 centuries and 24 half centuries with his bat. He is one of the highest run scorers for Bangladesh. In addition, Mushfiqur took 107 catches behind the wicket. He also did 15 stumpings. On the other hand, 28-year-old Noorul Hasan, who replaces Mushfiqur, has played 4 Tests so far, in which he has scored only 130 runs, including 1 half-century.
