Kannada power star..Late hero Puneeth Rajkumar got a rare honor. It is known that the Karnataka government had earlier announced that he would be honored with the Karnataka Ratna Award posthumously. Puneeth died of a heart attack on October 29 last year. The Kannadigas were deeply saddened by Appu’s untimely death. The family members and fans are still unable to digest the death of their favorite hero. In the recently held Ganesh Chaturthi festival also, they worshiped the idols of Lord Ganesha and Puneeth and showed their affection. This award is presented by the Government of Karnataka for the contribution made by the people in the film industry. The award will be presented at a function in front of Vidhana Soudha (Legislature) in Bangalore on November 1. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said that so far only eight people have been honored with this award. No one has received this award after 2009. The CM said that this award is being conferred posthumously in recognition of his services to the Kannada film industry, language and culture. “Puneeth Rajkumar is a true Karnataka gem who has won the hearts of people with his achievements. CM Bommai said that it is an inspiration to the youth. The award ceremony will be held on 1st November at 5 pm at Vidhana Soudha. Famous literary figures, film personalities, MLAs etc. will participate in this program.
Puneeth’s fans have demanded large-scale programs to pay tributes to him. As per their request, Bommai said that after the November 1 award ceremony, three more programs will be held in different parts of Bengaluru.
