The IPL-2022 mega auction will be held soon. However, there are ongoing discussions as to who will retain the current provisions of the ALOP. Former women cricketer Anjum Chopra has said that Delhi Capitals Rishabh Pant, Prithviraj Shah, Akshar Patel and Anrich Narjte are likely to be retained. Shreyas is of the opinion that there is no chance of keeping Iyer in the team. Iyer joined Delhi (then Delhi Daredevils) in 2015. At the auction he was selected for Rs 2.6 crore. After that he became captain.
He took the team to the playoffs in 2019. He led the team to the final in 2020. But they lost to Mumbai. Iyer scored 1916 runs in 86 innings at an average of 31.7 with 16 half-centuries. He was replaced by Pant as captain. Iyer joins team in second phase of IPL
Anjum said the next two new franchises are likely to take Iyer and appoint him as captain. RCB does not currently have a captain. So he said he has a chance to become the captain of any team. Ahmedabad will be the new team in IPL-2022. With this they need a good batter along with the captain. Shreyas is a great option for such people. In view of these figures it seems that Ahmedabad is looking forward to inviting him to their team.
