At just 23 years old, he became the youngest bowler in the world to achieve greatness. Rashid has taken the fastest 100 wickets in T20 leagues around the world as well as in international cricket.
Afghanistan face New Zealand in their last group match as part of the T20 World Cup 2021. Afghanistan need to win this match to reach the semi-finals. However with the failure of the batsmen Rashid Khan was unable to perform his spin magic. But even before that Rashid had set a record by showcasing his glamorous googly. Martin Guptill was dismissed in the fifth ball of the 9th over of the New Zealand innings. With this wicket, Rashid took 400 wickets in T20 cricket. He became the fourth bowler in the world to reach this level but no one has done it faster than him.
Playing his 289th match, Rashid completed 400 wickets in just 287 innings at an average of 16.55 with a strike rate of 17.55. He also became the youngest bowler to take 400 wickets at the age of 23 at 48 days. Rashid also completed his 100 wickets at T20 Internationals a few days ago in the same tournament. In this case, he set the record for the fewest matches. Rashid set the record with 53 matches in just 23 years.
West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo holds the record for most wickets in T20 cricket. He took 553 wickets in 512 matches. Announcing his retirement from international cricket, Bravo continues to excel in franchise cricket. After Bravo, West Indies’ Sunil Narine (425) was second and South African legend-leg-spinner Imran Tahir (420) was third. Rashid was in fourth place.
