Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has expressed disappointment that Pakistan cricket team captain Babur Azam was not considered for the Player of the Tournament award despite his performance in the T20 World Cup and reaching the semi-finals. Pakistan lost to Australia in the second semi-final when wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade was bowled out. However, Babur Azam topped the T20 World Cup with 303 runs, followed by Australia’s David Warner with 289 runs.
Despite topping the run chart, David Warner won the Man of the Tournament award over Babur Azam. Shoaib Akhtar responded to this. In his tweet, David Warner wrote that he was disappointed to receive the award and that he really hoped that Babur Azam would be named Man of the Tournament. David Warner said he scored 14 runs less than Babur.
David Warner, along with Mitchell Marsh, dominated the New Zealand bowlers. Provided victory for the team. Australia’s Mitchell Marsh was unbeaten on 77 off 173 runs with David Warner (53 off 38 balls) hitting the target in 18.5 overs. Marsh had six fours and four sixes in the innings. Ish Sodhi hit two huge sixes in the bowling. Batting first, New Zealand lost four wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 172 runs. Captain Williamson scored 85 off 48 balls.
Was really looking forward to see @ babarazam258 becoming Man of the Tournament. Unfair decision for sure.
