Batting first in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021, England scored 166 for 4 in 20 overs. New Zealand bowled well in the opening overs against England. However, Moin Ali’s superb innings in the final overs brought England back into the match. Moin Ali was unbeaten on 51 off 37 balls. India off-spinner R Ashwin said that Kane Williamson made a very surprising decision in this match. Ashwin blamed Williamson’s decision.
“Kane Williamson gave only one over to his most important spinner Mitchell Santner in the semi-final match against England. Two left-handed batsmen are at the crease. So Williamson bowled Glenn Phillips to replace Santner. Williamson’s decision came as a surprise. ” Said Ashwin. “Santner scored just one over and gave up 8 runs. Said.
2 lefties – so bowl a keeper who can bowl a bit of off spin and bowl santner for 1 over 8 runs. Santner has never gotten a left hander out in his career🙈🙈 #perceptionsaboutthegame . Hope those 11 runs won’t be a deciding factor#matchups
